Nu zondag 21/09 gaat de tweede editie van de Bruges SUp Classic door op Sint Pieters plas te Brugge.

Last Sunday’s Maui Paddleboard Race was an instant classic.

Courtesy of a gnarly storm that ripped through the north shore of Maui Saturday night, Maliko Gulch was almost unrecognisable on Sunday morning. The race was very nearly called off but fortunately it wasn’t, because for the 100 brave souls that ventured out there were some epic memories on offer.

The race quite literally became Victory At Sea.

I’m sure you’ve already seen the Maui Paddleboard Race pics, recap and results but now here’s the video of it all. Thanks to Buzzy Kerbox, who was on the ski following his son Kody, we get an inside look at the race.

This was certainly the craziest downwind paddle I’ve ever done and I’m pretty sure most of the other competitors would agree.

Op zaterdag 9 augustus organiseert Surfers Paradise in samenwerking met de Vlaamse Yachting federatie de eerste Belgische Kampioenschappen Stand Up Paddleboarden. 
Over afstanden van 5 tot 15 km op de Noordzee, verdeeld in verscheidene leeftijdscategorieën, zullen de eerste Nationale kampioenen in deze nieuwe watersportdiscipline gehuldigd worden.

Op het programma staat de individuele Long distance beach race, en de aflossingswedstrijd voor teams van 5 Suppers. Ook voor de ‘recreanten’ zonder racesup zijn er afzonderlijke categorieën en afstanden, en liggen er testboards klaar.

Deelname kost 35 euro per persoon “All You Can Eat” BBQ inclusief.

Alle reglementen en voorwaarden voor deelname zijn te vinden in het wedstrijdreglement. Deelnemen is belangrijker dan winnen en daar er momenteel nog niet al te veel watersporters over een eigen SUP board beschikken zal Surfers Paradise gedurende dat weekend al zijn boards en peddels ter beschikking stellen!

De condities voor de tweede editie van de iSUP.be Belgian Open waren perfect, in de voormiddag konden we een BEach RAce organiseren ( 3 manches ) en in de namiddag stond er een kleine swell waardoor we een wave wedstrijd konden afwerken. Met een opkomst van 29 wedstrijddeelnemers zijn we meer dan tevreden!
