In February 2011, Tyler Knight and Dominic Olivo started Cape Ann SUP in Gloucester, Mass. Shortly after, the duo came up with the idea of adding lights to SUPs to enhance the safety of their moonlight paddling trips. The result is a product that can keep your standup paddling experience rocking around the clock.
SUP mag: How did your product evolve?
Knight: Initially, we worked with a local shaper in Gloucester and glassed LED lights into the rails of our boards. One year later, those boards are still in 100% working condition, and are part of Precision Paddleboard’s rental fleet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During 2012, we developed several generations of prototypes and placed them with five different SUP companies. Our current kit is a fully-integrated, waterproof, high-intensity LED system that creates up to a 40-foot circumference of light around your board.

I’ll start by stating that there is no such a controversial and at the same time difficult gear selection in Stand Up Paddle than the paddle length. Period.
At the end the right paddle length is that that works for you, it’s a personal issue, but let’s have a look at how can you get to that right measure, from different points of view.
Everything starts when I began to realise that my paddle was limiting my progress: it’s too stiff, the blade too big, and the shaft too long, or so it seems to me. I realised that because when having to apply maximum power at critical moments like a late take off, or when I’m too tired, the excesive paddle length forced too much my injured right shoulder. So I began to analyse what was the right paddle length before buying a new one, arriving to “The Definitive Guide for choosing your SUP paddle lenght”.

Spent the last month or so in Hawaii and have been scoring some epic waves this Winter. Check this little vid from the last couple of swells. Got one of the best barrels I've gotten on the SUP and its good to start getting a taste for bigger waves.

There's something about fins that makes some guys tick. Rob Pirie is one of these guys, and if you've ever wondered about what counts under your stand up paddle board, then this is the video to watch.
JP Sups have tried a new concept this year with their wave boards. They've strayed away from the industry standard of having toe and cant built into the fin boxes, and gone for a totally straight mounting system. Drawn from windsurfing origins, the straight setup makes less drag which as Pirie describes, is very important for a stand up paddle board.
Adding to his argument, Pirie straps a camera to the bottom of his board, which not only shows the sheer amount of air that travels underneath a stand up paddle board, but how the fins don't cavitate when under load during a hard turn in the waves, something which many stand up paddle surfers are looking for to stop them sliding out.
If you've ever wondered what fin manufacturers are talking about when they mention things like 'cant angle' and toe-in. It's all explained in easy to understand language by Rob. He even uses the age old beer can technique of getting a perfect right angle. You can't argue with that.
Yes, we know it's a giant advert for JP sups and Shapers fins, but when you go to all the time and effort to make a video like this, we reckon it deserves some props.

De Manawa boards zin lichtjes aangepaste, wat smaller geworden en uitgebreid met een een nieuwe 9'6. Tevens is de Madeiro reeks uitgebreid met de nieuwe 8'6 en zijn alle boards voorzien van 5 vinkasten zodat je zelf de vin setup kan kiezen ( Thruster of Quad) .

in which he took some "respectable" size waves.
Then he took out an old Barland gun to get on a pretty big wave! You had to have
some good arms and great determination to get on the face.
