MOTUS cross triatlon is dit jaar toe aan zijn tweede editie. Een 1/8° triatlon met MTB en trail running. Uniek en als eerste in België kan je deelnemen aan de SUP/bike/run. Het StandUpPaddleboard is een leuke en krachtige sport die het zwemonderdeel vervangt.

MOTUS cross wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met de “Vlaamse triatlon & duatlon liga”. Dit maakt van deze cross een officiële en erkende wedstrijd. Wij volgen dan ook alle reglementen zoals voorgeschreven door de VTDL.

The Battle of the Coast in The Netherlands is an international known Stand Up Paddle board event were water athletes from first timers till pro’s compete against each other in various beach race formats.

“When I hear ‘ beach race’  I immediately picture an entertaining day on the water. Straight away it takes you to a fun place. Instantly the event is associated with something cool. All we need is some water, a beach for the start and finish, and a few buoy turns.” (posted January 11th, 2017 by Christopher Parker)

The Battle of the coast ( aka BOTC) will be held at The Spot Watersport center & Beach club in Zandvoort at June 4 and 5^th 2017.

The weekend will feature 3 technical and distance races for both pro and fun athletes; The open NK Beach race, downwinder and sprint.

We host prone and surf ski divisions, the Fanatic demo zone, The Spot sup & kids clinics and much more Aloha fun, food, campfire and life music.

One of the goals of BOTC is to reward the best overall standup racers. For both men and women the overall champion will be rewarded by the best result combining all races.

Next to everlasting fame and fortune there are official titles to win!

Het BK Wave SUP 2017 zal doorgaan @ Twins Club te Bredene  volgens de beste voorspellingen wordt er 24h op voorhand een Go of No Go gegeven op deze website en Facebook pagina's van iSUP en VYF.

De voorziene wacht periode is: 13-14 mei

Eerste reserve periode is: 20-21 mei

Tweede reserve periode is: 3-4-5 juni

Paddle Front SUP Event is een Stand Up Paddle evenement voor ALLE SUP liefhebbers. Zowel ervaren als recreatieve peddelaars kunnen aan dit event deelnemen.

De briefing zal gehouden worden aan de surfclub Koko Loco aan het Spaarbekken in Nieuwpoort (Nieuwendammeweg), waarna alle deelnemers samen met hun materiaal naar hun vertrekplaats gebracht zullen worden. Ambiance in de bus verzekerd!

Afstand recreanten: 6km, start aan de Schoorbakkebrug, Schore.
Afstand Race 17km: start ter hoogte van de IJzertoren te Diksmuide.
Aankomst: Spaarbekken Nieuwpoort (Surfclub Koko Loco)

Prijs deelname: 25€ (deelname, vervoer en eetbon inbegrepen)

Paddle Front SUP event est un événement Stand Up Paddle pour TOUS les amateurs du SUP.

Le "Briefing" aura lieu au Club de Surf 'Koko Loco", situé au Spaarbekken Nieuport (Nieuwendammeweg). Les participants vont être transportés par bus, du Club de Surf à Nieuport jusq'au points de départ. Ambiance garanti dans le bus !

Distance amateurs: 6 km, départ Pont de Schoorbakke (Schore)
Distance Race: 17 km, départ près de la Tour de l'Yser à Dixmude.
Arrivé: Spaarbekken Nieuwpoort, Club de Surf 'Koko Loco'.
Prix Participation: €25 (participation, transport et un bon à manger).

.... SUP foil, is het de nieuwe trend? Is het een aanvulling op onze gewone SUP? Kan het bij ons?

Op het internet worden dagelijks filmpjes gepoist van SUPFoiling, geen SUP website of SUP Facebook pagina die er niet over spreekt. De Britse SUP website - SUP BOARDER - heeft het fenomeen eens grondig onder de loep genomen, link naar het artikel kan je onderaan vinden.

Zelf geloof ik sterk in het SUPFoilen als aanvulling van het WAVE SUPpen in onze Noordzee omstandigheden. Hoe vaak is het niet dat de omstandigheden niet clean zijn, rommelig en er heel weinig lijn in zit? Meer dan wanneer het clean is en de lijntjes binnenlopen.

Wel nu juist deze rommelige Noordzee condities zijn de condities om een SUPFOIL in te zetten, zelf heb ik voor dit seizoen een F-One Papeeno 7'11 convertable wave sup, een boardje waaronder je een foil kan vijzen. Een ideale combinatie voor onze omstandigheden is een foil met een 1200cm2 vleugel in combinatie met een mast van 55cm tot 65cm.

Alhoewel er momenteel al enkele fabrikanten zijn die een SUP Foil aanbieden is er momenteel geen enkele behalve F-One die een modulaire setup aanbieden, je kan vrij de vleugel kiezen ( 1200 / 1000 / 900 ) en de mast lengte  ( ook de uitvoering Carbon of Aluminium ). Zelf heb ik gekozen voor de Alu Hybride 1200/65 setup.

Alhoewel ik al Kitefoil ervaring heb en het dus niet allemaal nieuw is voor mij zal er toch een leercurve zijn die doorlopen moet worden. Het is nu nog wachten op de juiste omstandigheden om alles te testen.

... SUPBOARDMAG heeft een video gemaakt die hun eerste stappen op de NAish Malolo Foil beschrijft.... volhouden!. Mijn  WAVE SUP Foil setje van F-One is onderweg... binnenkort zelf proberen.

Following on from the boat tow session and the downwind session with the Naish Malolo, Will and Reuben from SUPboarder went off in search of waves to give their first SUP surf foil session a go. The conditions were far from perfect on the day due to high winds but they found a small waist to chest high swell to get up on the foil for the first time. From zero to definitely not hero, Will found riding the foil in surf challenging, but the progression was quite quick. We hope you find the video blog of his first SUP surf foil session interesting, educational and a good laugh!

Reuben said : I was filming today and I really enjoyed watching (and laughing! ) But it does make you realise how safety conscious you have to be with a foil in the surf, with or without others in the line up. We went to a very quiet beach and the 3 surfers that were out knew what we were doing (and they enjoyed the laughs too). Most of the time Will was on his own peak well away from others, as you can see in the vid. A helmet is essential especially when in windy conditions. These foils are amazing pieces of kit but they need to be used with caution. You don't need big waves, but as Will found out, foot placement is paramount! Watching the nailings from the beach was just as much fun as watching him get up on the foil for the first time. Sorry for the shaky camera, it's hard to hold the camera steady when you are crying so much!! :-).
